Although each & every photograph exhibited in my pages were captured and annotated through my efforts, the web design and creation belongs solely to my friend Kirk M. Rogers of Portland, Maine. You will note at the bottom of various pages, ‘Web Design by Kiro Enterprises’; click on this link and you will transition to Kirk’s Website, A Shot in the Dark, which as of early 2010 had over 15.4 million hits and 632,000 visits. Visit his Writings & Articles section to check out the many photojournals on various topics and other content he has posted there. My two favorites personally are, In the Refuge – Photographs from the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge and Low-Country Photography - With My Cameras on Skidaway Island, Georgia. I am referenced in both of these excellent journals; you will deduce from his narratives how we hit-it-off, thus this collective website. Kirk is an enthusiastic and avid nature, landscape and astronomical photographer – he shoots everything from the smallest creature with a macro lens to deep sky objects far greater than our solar system with specialized equipment… You may also find Kirk's Bird Photography Index, with over three hundred species and thousands of images is an invaluable resource.

In one of Zane Grey’s novels, which I read many years past, I recall one notable line that best describes my friend Kirk, “ He is one fine man to ride the river with.” Thanks Kirk!

Giff, former United States Naval Aviator, currently a commercial pilot for Delta Airlines - all around nice guy and good man, is always available to render identification to an unknown dragonfly or damselfly photograph. Russ, a fellow Skidaway Island resident, served as a mentor when I first became involved in nature pursuits. I greatly respect his photographic skills and value his website which includes information and images of birds, butterflies and odonates of Catham County.

Jim’s website listing from the County Records includes individual butterfly photographs. It contains Georgia, regional, and national butterfly links. The Georgia Butterflies web site was originally created in July 2000 to assist the United States Geological Survey - Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in developing a more complete picture of butterfly distribution in the State of Georgia.

Diana is one of our birding guides and local experts. She writes an outstanding column, “Birder’s Eye View” for the Savannah Morning News and is in the process of preparing a compilation of her articles with plans of publishing. She is clearly an accomplished birder and a terrific asset to all of us in our shared pursuits.

The Savannah-Ogeechee chapter of the National Audubon organization is a wonderful grouping of very nice folks who study, photograph, and enjoy our birds, wildlife, and natural environment. I have been a member since moving to Skidaway Island in 2003. We have great field trips each month with terrific guides and leaders. You'll also note that Kirk is linked from the Ogeeechee Audubon website.
